Dans101 is multi-tenant SaaS: each business gets its own branded space on dans101.com. Here’s the vocabulary we use in the product and docs.
The SaaS customer. Owns a subdomain like jane-dance.dans101.com, branding, bookings, credits, community, and billing tier. Data from other tenants is walled off.
Types: solo (one teacher), studio (company), platform (The Bando flagship).
The teacher with a login. Same email works in the mobile app and web dashboard. Sign-in is magic link (no password). One person belongs to one tenant today (usually as owner or instructor).
Legacy hosts on The Bando share tenant the-bando → sign in at the-bando.dans101.com/login (legacy afrodance-uk.dans101.com still works).
The difference between a host and a crew is one person or many. A host teaches under their own name. A crew is a group of teachers, dancers or educators under one, with an owner, team invites and shared branding.
A crew can hold more crews. One brand might run a teaching arm, a performance team and a junior squad as separate groups, all under the same name and the same founders. Each is a studio row; the brand above them is the tenant.
Not a separate billing customer unless the crew "graduates" to its own tenant.
Two warnings about the word. In the product data a studio is this group of people, never a room: a room you hire is a space. And an instructor account whose account_type is studio is something else again, a venue that hires out rooms and does not teach. The public site says crew for the group, to keep those apart.
One identity can book with many tenants. Web sign-in at /account uses email + password (or register). Mobile also supports Google/Apple. Guest booking needs no account.
